episode 19 preview https://twitter.com/DARLI_FRA/status/999576325131198465

Dr. Franxx speaking

Fate is cruel. In order to obtain something, one must lose something else. Humanity has searched and sacrificed a lot for what lies beyond life which is our limit. And then we met her, such a beautiful and perfect being.

Episode 19 The Inhuman Ones

運命というのは(?)にして残酷だ。 何かを得るためには、何かを失わなければならない。 人間は生命としての限界を超えたその先にあるものを求め、多くを捨ててきた。 そして出会ってしまったのだ、あの美しくても、完全なるその存在に。

I think that the episode won't include the opening or the closing because at the end, I think that we'll cut to Squad 13 actually doing something.

Looks like this episode will be really good. So the APE council were human once after all. And the way they were facing that crowd remind me of a sect.

I think at the beginning of the episode, Dr. FranXX is being interrogated after the events of last episode and are saying "We all know it was your fault that we had to do what we had to so you're on trial."

A strange episode to me; back-story? ape masks? what is going on? it looks like the cycle goes on, a desperate society and a death cult for salvation; I hate it if it is really like this.

Let me see Zero Two and Ichigo more; damn it!

They probably promised people eternal life.

They probably depend on his work too much or they would've disposed of him long ago.

What If APE send Squad 13 to the Bird's Nest to be executed (or pruned) and have contacted Dr. FranXX to inform him he's no longer needed.

Oh the lore flashback episode, this is why the time wasted on the Mitsuru x Kokoro trash was so annoying. Do they have enough episodes for a satisfying conclusion and to wrap up with all the characters ?!?

Let's recap:

5 episodes after this one to go and BD sales that don't have the makings of a S2. And if a S2 was going to happen, there would have been an announcement by now.

This might end up being the best trainwreck to happen in the last 5 years.

Is Nishigori making the transition to full on Okada now? Give me that Aquarion ending baby!

An announcement for a season two wouldn't come until the series is ending. Like most anime a continuation is confirmed either in the final episode or after. Five episodes is plenty of time to wrap up this story so a season two isn't even needed.

@Naxrrhid So far it looks like a series that will actually get a complete ending. Why would you want a sequel for it? To break it?
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.
Thought: How many people sparked H. Charlotta just for blue pot?

Original animes have a complete story with an already decided conclusion and pacing...

So yes it will all be wrapped up..

Looks like we will be getting some much needed backstory of the entire shebang next episode. Franxx seens to be part of the original group that helped set this all up, not surprising.

What if... the final scene shows that Squad 13 is either about to be "pruned" on APE'S orders, thrown into the brigs of the Bird's Nest, sparks the foreshadowed Rebellion, or APE deciding that Squad 13 should fight each other to the death for the amusement of the adults (the last one is a crazy prediction)

They can't. Squad 13 is special, they still don't have a victory guarantee against Klaxosaurs and they don't have much choices. That's why Kokoro and Mitsuru have returned to the crew.

Exactly, that's they were being given special treatment.

I think the implication here is clear. Somehow, humanity began to search for a way to create immortality. In the process they created something entirely new, a creature made from outside DNA that could dramatically lengthen its own lifespan. Struck by the prospect of genuine human immortality coming within reach, they went forward and spliced human DNA with the DNA of the creatures that they had created. They created the klaxosaur princess. However, everything went wrong from there; humanity's use of magma-based energy rapidly deteriorated the environment, so the plantations were developed as mobile homes in which the newly immortal humanity would live. However, these were limited things, so the human leadership made reproductive sex taboo in order to preserve space for as many as possible. During this time the Klaxosaur princess, otherwise known as subject 01--the first successful splicing of immortal DNA and human DNA--rebels against her creators. Somehow, either by converting other humans or by another process, the klaxosaur princess raises an army and forces humanity into the plantations.

All this time, Wilhelm Franxx, whose research was responsible for all of this, watches with increasing desperation and despair as he sees what his research has wrought---his own creation run amok in the world. So he decides to break the system that he helped to create.

A number of other notes:

1. That woman with the prototype Pistil suit looks suspiciously similar to 9-alpha.

2. We know the dimensions of the Plantations now, they're stated to be 3km in diameter and a height of 1.2km. The main shaft serves as a magma distribution system with the reservoir held externally and a massive drill intake attached to the bottom of the vehicle.

3.Dr. Franxx's narration suggests that the Klaxosaur princess was either created by humanity or an alien whose DNA was used in experiments to further human immortality.

Good predictions. But I prefer Klaxousaur Princess not being an alien. As you implied, that APE cult could be seeking eternal life or something based on what they said in episode 18. But I think the society/humanity and Dr. Franxx didn't know about this. They were looking for survival.

That woman also resembles to the old woman who Zorome has met.
I expect they will explain the magma processing as lifeline; what the hell are they consuming out of magma mass?

Best theory I had ever read... damn.
Zero 1 may be her.
She may use humans as Klax's core.

I believe the Klaxo princess is something natural since the narration seems to suggest that the doctor found her one day, maybe an alien? I am guessing they pissed her off and that's how the whole human vs klaxosaur thing began. Notice how humanity is intact with normal cities and all before meeting the princess.

But somehow the princess must have gotten her human appearance so I begin to think that a meteor chrashed down on earth (the place we know as the Gran Crevasse) and scientist researched the extraterrestial substance. They found out the substance has incredible regenarative abilities and spliced it with a human, perhaps the female assistant of Dr.Franxx. The substance changed her and ultimately transformed to the first hybrid/special speciman: code001
