So around a year back I lost interest in anime and as a result stopped using this site frequently. Today I decided to see what's new, maybe get back into the stuff, and while browsing the forums I checked out another thread in this section, which had a screenshot of a the gender selection having anything more than the the only two genders that actually exist. So... what, this ridiculous trend that's the mockery of the internet and being a subject of debate on whether or not it's an actual mental disease - gender dysphoria - reached an anime site as well? That's kinda hilarious. What do you think about this, ''non-binary'' friends? Also, did you (MAL staff) get a lot of pressure into implementing this, or is it just another audience broadening strategy? |

They were probabley protesting outside the staff team houses and shouting "Down with the patriarchy" all day. So ye i'd like to think that it was cause of pressure and being politically correct. |

No genders exist. It's all made up. You could have two or two billion it doesn't matter. |

It's a personal choice. People can identify however they choose and it costs nothing to respect those decisions. If non-binary is a label that fits right with them, then who are we to police their identity? |

i do not see the point of all these fancy bullshit terms. you either have a dick or a vagina (in most cases. there are people born with both but that usually ends in the removal of one. the rare case where both are kept then ok identify as genderless). if you plan on keeping your original sex organ then why bitch about it not being a part of who you are when it clearly is? if you plan on changing it i can see why you wouldn't want to be looked at as your birth gender and by all means should be free to identify as the opposite. on a similar note if i like the opposite sex only i would be straight, if i liked the same sex only id be gay, since i do not care what sex part you have i am bi. if i only wanted you to have the sex organ you were born with i'd still fit into any of these three categories depending on which was otherwise applicable, i'd just be a choicy partner who should be open about it. any terminology beyond that just seems like someone made shit up so they could feel like a special snowflake. |

most "nonbinary" kids are just transtrenders and do not have gender dysphoria 99% of the time. gender dysphoria is what makes one trans, but the concept of "nonbinary" really has nothing to do with actualized gender dysphoria. most of them are just attention seeking tumblrinas demanding certain pronouns and are whiny as f i mean you can identify as a fucking attack helicopter if you want to, but i'm still not going to call you a "they" or a "zir" |

Husband is non-binary. But he kinda doesn't care what you call him (male or female). But he does have a lot of OCD issues and he is very feminine. And it is to the point of being mistaken for a girl.... He doesn't pass for straight at all.... he hardly passes for male some days. He doesn't like tumblr people but. eh. Why does it even matter anyway? He just don't want random shit thrown at him just for existing in an unacceptable space between male and female very naturally. As for what he put on the profile? Male. Why? He doesn't need to attract idiots honestly. |

That's where you are very wrong. They might not be doing anything illegal, but they definitely affect me and everyone around me. For example, California wanted to put transgender/gender neutral bathrooms in High schools. (don't know if they did it or not, too lazy to google) How much tax money is going to be wasted because snowflakes want to feel special? That money could be going towards actual education because, let's be real here, America has a shit education system. Also, does that mean I have to learn a new set of pronouns just because it's not appropriate to call someone a he/she? And if I don't, I'm labeled sexist. There are so many things wrong with thinking that they don't affect anyone. |

It's fucking bullshit, but it's at least better than posting "female" as your gender when you are actually male. It really leads to a strong attachment and further disappointment that leads to ignoring that person forever, because they trapped me. It sucks too, because a lot of people on here are really good at acting like females. I catch feelings I fucking hate traps. |

Apparently people get emotionally hurt if you say they're a gender they don't consider themselves. I personally refer to people by sex when distinguishing them, so there is always a battle when people think I'm referring to their gender when it's by their sex. I believe there is some objectivity to the world that (not always) supersedes our own subjectivity. E.g. I'll call you a man if you happen to fit the bio-markers of the male sex, meaning if we fucked their is a possibility a child can be produced. I'll refer to them by gender (which are social markers), but in relation to talking about them to others, if their sex is the topic then thats what it is. |

Nonbinary is factually wrong, so yes, it does irk me when sites pander to this nonsense. If it was regarded in the same way furries or otherkin are (aka disregarded as weirdness) then I'd be fine with it, but since companies are scared of self-absorbed trenders boycotting them or whatever then they'll go along with it. isekai said: Nyu said: isekai said: i got no problem with it since genders are different from biological sex that is actually 3 (male, female, intersex) There are not 3 Sexes, Intersex is a mutation. thats just old science, i rather listen to updated science that says 2 sexes are not enough What noteworthy scientific journals have called intersex a genuine third sex? Its getting ridiculous and I can't take this whole shit seriously tbh. Looks like people want to be special snowflakes. There are only 2 genders imho. At least we get the Attack Helicopter meme: I sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of soaring over the oilfields dropping hot sticky loads on disgusting foreigners. People say to me that a person being a helicopter is Impossible and I’m fucking retarded but I don’t care, I’m beautiful. I’m having a plastic surgeon install rotary blades, 30 mm cannons and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me “Apache” and respect my right to kill from above and kill needlessly. If you can’t accept me you’re a heliphobe and need to check your vehicle privilege. Thank you for being so understanding. |
